Losses Will Not Dim My Faith in the True God

Summary: Losses can feel like giants trying to crush our faith and make us think that God does not love us. Although we may not presently understand why we are going through these unexpected losses, we must stand firm and declare that God is faithful and true and that he fulfills his promises. If we remain steadfast in our Christian race, what is taken from us will later be restored many times over. Job lost everything, but God blessed the latter part of his life more than the former. Therefore, when the enemy claims that all is lost, let us respond with even greater strength and confidence: we have believed in a God of love, justice, and truth.
In this life we go through many processes, and one of the most painful processes is LOSS. I write it in capital letters because that is exactly how it feels in our lives, as if it were something very big—not to say a giant—that wants to crush our faith in a God who is True and does not lie. Generally, when we experience losses, we do not understand at the time why they happen. The giant that wants to destroy our faith in God begins to bellow in our ears and shout at us that God does not love us because He allows us to go through these unexpected “cuts.”
But as children of God, we must stand firm and declare at the top of our lungs that GOD IS FAITHFUL AND TRUE, AND THAT HE FULFILLS EVERY ONE OF HIS PROMISES OVER OUR LIVES. What is “taken” from us will be restored to us many times over later on if we remain faithful and steadfast in our Christian race. Job lost everything in the first chapter of his life—Job, Chap. 1—but in the last chapter (Job 42:12–13), it says: “And Jehovah blessed the latter state of Job more than the first; for he had fourteen thousand sheep, six thousand camels, one thousand yoke of oxen, and one thousand female donkeys, and he had seven sons and three daughters.”
When the enemy shouts at you that you have lost everything, SHOUT BACK AT HIM EVEN LOUDER, and let him know that you are certain in whom you have believed; we have believed in a God of love, justice, and truth.
