Let Us Activate the Mind of Christ Within Us

Summary: The Bible teaches us to live according to God’s will. Those of us who have confessed Jesus as Lord have the mind of Christ: we are called to think, evaluate, and act as he does, remembering that Christ lives in us. This privilege enables us to discern the things of the Spirit, which seem foolish to the fleshly person. As we continually seek God through his Word and prayer, our minds are renewed with the help of the Holy Spirit. In this way, we can recognize his voice, become more like Jesus, and see our neighbors as he sees them. Let us ask God to help us put this truth into practice in our lives.
The Bible is one of the ways God speaks to us. Through it, the Lord gives us guidance on how to live according to his will, and how to act and think as he does.
In 1 Corinthians 2:16, the Lord specifically tells us that we have the mind of Christ. By this he means that every child of God who has confessed Jesus as Lord possesses his mind. So we should think as he thinks, see things as he sees them, and evaluate everything as he does. In other words, we should be radically transformed to be like Jesus.
Having the mind of Christ also means knowing what he thinks, the plans he has for us, and even what he expects of us. Every child of God who has been born again must always keep this truth in mind: it is no longer we who live, but Christ who lives in us.
We are privileged people. Verse 14 of the same chapter (1 Cor. 2) tells us that the fleshly person cannot perceive the things of the Spirit of God because they must be spiritually discerned, and to such people they seem like foolishness. Only we, the children of God, have been given this great privilege of understanding and perceiving the things of the Spirit of God. What is foolishness to the fleshly person is, for us, one of the most beautiful privileges the Lord has granted us.
If we continually seek God through reading his word and through prayer, our minds will be renewed each day to the mind of Christ, and we will think and act as he does. We would become more like him. His Holy Spirit is always helping us and prompting us to analyze, memorize, and discern all things as Christ does; at all times, we must know how to recognize the voice of his Spirit.
If we fully understood this great truth, believe me, our lives would change. Our relationships with others would be different; we would see our neighbors as Christ sees them, and our spiritual nature, not our fleshly nature, would prevail. The Lord wants us to understand what this great privilege entails and to ask him in prayer to help us activate the mind of Christ that is within us.
Prayer: Father, you say that I have your mind. Help me understand this great truth and teach me each day to think, act, and live a life wholly in you.
