Incorruptible Inheritance

I have been reading that in Las Vegas, the so-called “Gambling City,” hotel managers have had to decide to seal the windows so they cannot be opened, because many people, desperate over their gambling losses, choose to take their own lives. Poor souls who have nothing else to cling to when trials come! For many of them, this is the result of a corrupt life.

We children of God give thanks because our Father owns the gold and the silver; but more than that, He is perfect and does not abandon us or allow our descendants to beg (Ps 37:25). His storehouses are always full of food for anyone who comes in need, and His springs flow and keep our souls refreshed (John 6:35). Nothing earthly compares to Him when it comes to filling the hearts of His children: He fills us with His love, His comfort, His hope, and His security.

Our God impresses upon our lives the assurance that we will never be alone, the certainty that even if everyone in this world turns their back on us, He will always be by our side. This does not depend on money or any other material possession. He loves us naked and helpless (Ps 102:17), hungry, thirsty, and dirty (Isa 49:10), because it is precisely in that state that we devour everything He gives us and begin to feel filled with His fullness.

He gives abundance to our lives in Christ Jesus; He transfers to us His riches in glory (Phil 4:19), and by testament we inherit all His possessions (1 Peter 1:4).

Being good stewards of this unchanging inheritance is our obligation. Our charge is to see that it prospers and multiplies so that others may be blessed through the abundance He pours out from heaven.

My God does not diminish His measure; my God does not abandon us. His faithfulness makes any effort of ours to equal Him pale in comparison. His words are heard eternally, saying to His children: “Be strong and of good courage; do not fear, nor be afraid of them, for the LORD your God is the One who goes with you; He will not leave you nor forsake you.” Deuteronomy 31:6
