God’s Promises Are Faithful and True

Summary: The value of a promise depends on the character of the one who makes it. Human promises may go unfulfilled or be fulfilled only in part when steadfastness is lacking, but God’s promises reflect his truth and faithfulness. He neither lies nor changes: he will do what he has said and has the power to fulfill every promise in our lives, even when circumstances seem contrary. Therefore, we can trust fully in his word, confident that he does not change his mind about what he has told us.
It is important to understand that the character of promises is intimately linked to the character of the one who makes them. If the one who makes a promise lacks steadfast character, his promises will not be fulfilled or will be fulfilled only in part. How different it is when it comes to God’s Promises! Since God’s character is truth and faithfulness, His promises likewise are true and faithful. God does not lie, change, or shift; He will do what He has said, and not only that, but He is POWERFUL enough to bring every one of His promises to pass in our lives, even when everything seems contrary.
