God Moves in an Atmosphere of Faith

Many people have faith, but that faith is like a placid, tranquil lake. God likes waters that leap and move. “Rivers of living water,” says the Word, “will spring from within him.” God is moved by a dynamic, aggressive, expectant faith—one that dares to undertake things, expecting Him to respond and back us up when we believe Him.

That is why we must make our faith red-hot and exercise it at every opportunity until it becomes a blazing flame. The apostle Paul counsels Timothy, “Fan into flame the gift of God that is in you” (2 Tim 1:6). Only a posture of intense, passionate faith can establish the conditions needed for the power of God to be activated.

The power of God is manifested in an atmosphere of faith, where a supernatural mindset is at work. That is why it is important to foster in God’s people an expectation, an active posture of faith. When God’s people are instructed in the secrets and subtleties of faith and learn to stir the waters of faith, then God can move as He wishes.

It is important, through pastoral instruction and constant practice, to bring forth individuals and congregations who reckon with and frame life in terms of faith and the supernatural. Not a people of generic, feeble faith, who believe chiefly in human actions and initiatives, but a people who move in, and depend on, the supernatural power of the Spirit. Where there is an atmosphere of faith, God can move with complete freedom and do great things.
