God Is Calling His Church to Take an Important Place in Our Nations’ Public Deliberations
But Elisha was sitting in his house, and the elders were sitting with him. — 2 Kings 6:32

Saying with a loud voice, Fear God, and give glory to him; for the hour of his judgment is come: and worship him that made heaven, and earth, and the sea, and the fountains of waters. — Revelation 14:6-7

Summary: The image of Elisha seated with the authorities of Samaria shows us the place the Church is called to occupy in public decision-making. We must participate in government, the economy, the media, culture, and universities. To do so, we need to prepare men and women filled with the Holy Spirit, able to engage in dialogue in these spheres and bring God’s Word and the principles of the Gospel there. Closeness to civil authorities must not cause us to lose sight of that mission. Let us prepare ourselves and ask the Lord for a word of authority for our cities and nations.
How interesting that we see Elisha sitting alongside the spiritual and civil authorities of the city of Samaria. I think that scene is very important because it shows us the need for the Church of Jesus Christ, in these prophetic times that I believe we are beginning to live in, to have a presence also in the places where our society’s political and civil decisions are made.
God is calling His Church to take an important place in the public deliberations of our nations. God is calling His Church to begin getting involved in matters of government, matters concerning the media, the financial affairs of our nations, governmental and economic matters, cultural matters, where the great decisions are made, in universities, in academic settings.
In other words, God is calling His Church to sit with the elders of the city. And the Church has a very important role to play. As we see here, the prophet Elisha, who represents the Church of Jesus Christ, represents the Presence of God in the nations, is sitting and deliberating with the authorities of the country and the city.
And God is calling us at this time to prepare a group of men and women filled with the Holy Spirit, but also equipped to engage in dialogue at those levels, who will enter the structures of society to declare the Word of God, declare the judgments of God, declare the principles of the Gospel, so that those principles, like leaven, will permeate the foundations of our cities and our nations, disciple the nations and the cities, and establish the principles of the Gospel in the very foundations of our society.
And that is what I believe is exemplified and illustrated by that moment when we see Elisha speaking with the authorities. It is time for us to know that God is calling the Church; I prophesy here when I say that times are coming when the Church of Jesus Christ will be called to sit alongside the elders of our cities and our countries to declare the judgments of God, declare the Word of God, to work closely with the civil authorities, but from the standpoint of speaking forth the Word of God and God’s desires for our societies.
We must be preparing for this, we must be preparing for that moment and asking the Lord to give us a word of authority for our nations. In the Name of Jesus Christ, this is what we declare. May the Lord bless you, and we will continue our study later.
