Summary: The writer's youngest brother died suddenly from a heart attack and they turned to the Bible for comfort. They found solace in a verse from Psalms and prayed for strength to comfort their family. At the funeral, they prayed for peace and support and their mother spoke about their brother's life and called on those present to seek the Lord. They encourage others to pray for those who have lost loved ones and do not know the Lord as their refuge.
We are a large family we treat each other with a lot of love and mutual respect. On May 20, 1996 my youngest brother, whom we all treat as if he were each other's children, died of a sudden heart attack. What a sad morning; filled our hearts with sadness and pain.
I went to my Bible looking for a word of comfort because it was something so unexpected and surprising that I did not know how to face it. I prayed and asked the Lord to give me a word of comfort. I opened my Bible and as I did so my eyes were fixed on the verse of
In the cemetery, even my mother spoke of my brother's life and called on those present to seek the Lord. Only God can do this in the heart of the man and woman who has put their trust in him.
Pray for the people who have lost loved ones and still do not know the Lord as their only refuge.
