Summary: When we face problems, we must not let them steal our joy: when we lose it, we lose strength and become vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks. Jesus calls us not to let our hearts be troubled and to trust in him. After praying about a possible move to Florida, we bought a house, but I still did not feel at peace about moving, and my husband preferred to wait. We rented it out and looked for another nearby. During that process, an air-conditioning breakdown brought an unexpected expense that distressed me. I brought it to the Lord in prayer; Nahum 1:7 gave me peace, I kept my joy, and the problem was resolved. God’s word comforts us and reminds us that our Father does not abandon us.

If you are facing a problem, do not let that problem steal your joy, because you will lose your strength and be vulnerable to the enemy’s attacks. For one of his purposes is to keep us distressed and troubled.

The word of God tells us in John 14:1: “Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in me.” In this verse, Jesus is speaking to our hearts.

After a time of prayer and seeking to know whether or not we should move to Florida, we bought a very beautiful house that made us want to move. But I did not yet feel at peace about doing so, since I was not willing to share the idea with my pastor, whom I love so much. Then my husband told me he did not want us to move just yet. We rented out the property and looked for another house near the one we had until then. During the process of moving, we received a call informing us that the air-conditioning system had broken down and that it would be advisable to replace it. This news distressed me a little because it would mean an unplanned expense. I brought it before the Lord in prayer, and immediately verse 7 of chapter 1 of Nahum came to mind. Reading it gave me peace, and I did not let this take away my joy. In a few days, everything was resolved and we returned to normal, thanks be to God.

Prayer: Beloved Heavenly Father, I thank you because your word comforts us at all times, reminding us that we have a loving father who will neither leave us nor forsake us. In Christ Jesus, Amen.
