Delight in the Lord

Summary: Everyday pleasures, like a sweet treat or a good book, come to an end; delighting in the Lord’s presence offers lasting joy, though daily concerns can distract us. If we struggle to make time for prayer and meditation on the Word, we can find a way to enjoy those moments. Singing Bible verses to a melody of our own and repeating them when we are alone with Him helps us nourish ourselves with His Word and remember it while doing other tasks. Delighting in the Lord does not mean receiving everything we ask for: He gives us peace to wait or to accept a negative answer. Let us seek His presence for the joy of being with Him.
I love dulce de leche, and I also love reading a good book. I don’t know what you delight in, but once I’ve finished the dulce de leche, the delight is over. I want to share with you about a lasting delight. The cares of daily life keep us from delighting continually.
But many of us can testify to the blessing of delighting in the Lord’s presence. Perhaps it is difficult for you to take time to pray and meditate on the Word. It may be because you have not found a way to delight in His presence. I have found another way to spend longer periods in His presence while also nourishing myself with His Word. I sing Bible verses, set them to my own music, and repeat them during my time alone with Him. The wonderful thing is that sometimes, while I’m driving or doing other tasks, I remember the tune and the verse.
Does this mean that if I am delighting in the Lord, He grants me everything I ask of Him? No, but He gives me peace to wait or to receive a negative answer.
I urge you to delight in Our Beloved, simply to enjoy His presence.
