But I will deliver thee in that day, saith the LORD: and thou shalt not be given into the hand of the men of whom thou art afraid. (Jeremiah 39:17)

As Charles Spurgeon mentions, when we are faithful to the Lord in the midst of persecution, He protects and cares for us, reminding us that we should not fear men, but fear the Lord.
