And it fell on a day, that Elisha passed to Shunem, where was a great woman; and she constrained him to eat bread. And so it was, that as oft as he passed by, he turned in thither to eat bread. (2 Kings 4:8)
And when she was baptized, and her household, she besought us, saying, If ye have judged me to be faithful to the Lord, come into my house, and abide there. And she constrained us. (Acts 16:15)

Seeking more intimacy with the Holy Spirit

The Shunammite woman in 2 Kings 4:8 is a fascinating character who embodies and illustrates spiritual truths. She was an important woman, possibly of influence and respected in her community, who persistently invited the prophet Elisha to eat with her family. She discerned that he was a man of God and wanted to establish a relationship with him. This shows that she was a spiritual woman who desired intimacy with God and was not content with a superficial relationship. We can learn from her example and seek to enter into intimacy with God in our own lives. Read more...

Enrique Meneses Muñoz : LORD, I thank you for allowing me to be intimate with you. Hallelujah.
Amen! It is wonderful to be able to be intimate with the Lord and experience his presence in our lives. As Dr. Roberto Miranda mentions in his devotional, this search for intimacy with God is something that leads us to grow spiritually and be blessed by Him. Just as the Shunammite woman sought closeness to the prophet Elisha, we must also seek that closeness with the Spirit Holy. Let us remember the words of the psalmist in Psalms 27:8: "My heart has said of you, 'Seek my face.' I will seek your face, O Lord." May the Lord bless you and continue to strengthen your intimate relationship with Him. Hallelujah.
Junior Lacruz : We must all have a family altar place so that the Holy Spirit can guide our lives.
That's right, Junior! Dr. Roberto Miranda highlights in his devotional the importance of seeking intimacy with the Holy Spirit. And a practical way to do this is by establishing a family altar, a place where we take time to seek God's presence and allow Him to guide our lives. This altar can be a physical space in our home where we gather to pray, read God's Word, and worship Him. The Bible teaches us in Acts 16:15 about a woman named Lydia, who invited the apostles to her home and begged them to stay there. We can see in her example how she sought to make her home a place where she could have a deeper experience with the Lord. By establishing a family altar, we are opening the door for the Holy Spirit to guide us and work in our lives in a special way. May the Holy Spirit always be the one to guide and direct our lives through our continuous search for intimacy with Him. Blessings to you and your family.
Francisco Diaz S: Sorry for going off topic today.- I am thanking God for teaching me to take the right path in times of indecision and uncertainty.- Today I am celebrating my 59th wedding anniversary.- The Lord has blessed me with a beautiful family.
Congratulations, Francisco, on your 59th wedding anniversary! It is a blessing to be able to celebrate so many years of marriage and have a beautiful family. We thank God for having guided you in moments of indecision and uncertainty, and for having taught you to take the right path. God's faithfulness is wonderful and is reflected in different areas of our lives, including our marriages and families. As Dr. Roberto Miranda mentions in his devotional, God seeks to bless and honor those who have a perfect heart towards Him. Your testimony of faithfulness and gratitude is an example of this. May the Lord continue to bless your marriage and your beautiful family. May his love and grace continue to guide you in every step of your life. Happy Anniversary!
Eunice de Puerto Rico: When the Lord wants to bless us, he uses what he wants to do it, and we see that he used Elisha, a man, a human, sometimes the Lord uses a little bird to make us see something in our life, sometimes the Lord uses water or oil to show us what he wants, what I want to emphasize is that God will always use something or someone to bring us the blessing or he will use a dream to show us the way to it, whatever bridge the Lord uses will always come to bless us through or by his audible voice but always his blessing is ready for us. God is good and faithful and his mercies are new day after day. Elisha can be you today, Elisha can be the bread-word in you and through you, brother or sister, do not doubt that you will be sent at any moment, do not hesitate to reach where God has shown you to reach and give, because God knows in What moment will make you go through Shunem, God who already knows your willing heart will give you the word for a Shunammite or for a family in need. Thank you God because you know in what time you make us go through situations and circumstances so that your specific purpose is fulfilled in the lives of others and in turn in us, we want to get closer to you by obeying you and listening to your voice. Amen Blessings!
Amen, Eunice. Your comment is very accurate. God is very creative in the way he blesses us and uses different means to do so. Just as he used Elisha in the life of the Shunammite woman, he can also use people, circumstances, dreams or even elements such as water or oil to show us his will and bring us blessing. As you mention, it is important to remember that God is good and faithful, and his mercies are new every day. He knows our needs and knows perfectly well when to send someone or use some specific means to bless us and bless others through us. Our role is to be willing to obey and listen to His voice, trusting that He will guide us and use us according to His purpose. May you continue to draw closer to God, seeking his will and desiring to obey him. May his voice continue to guide your steps and may you be an instrument of blessing in the lives of others. Abundant blessings to you. Amen!
