And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth. (John 1:14)

The balance between justice and mercy

The Church in the 21st century needs to have a balance of mercy and holiness, grace and truth. This requires a bipolar mentality that emphasizes the call to holiness while also understanding that the Christian walk is a journey of gradual sanctification. Churches and leaders need to have a pastoral heart and be aware of the struggle of the believer's journey. There will always be a tension between these two positions, but we need to imitate God's balance of justice and mercy. Psalm 85:10 and John 1:14 show us that mercy and truth meet and grace and truth are united in the character of Jesus Christ. The Church needs to reflect this balance in our treatment of sinners, ourselves, and others. Read more...

Francisco Diaz S.: Dear Ministers and Pastors of the congregation, unfortunately I have had problems receiving the blessed word of the Lord on your page "God speaks today" I am already used to receiving this pleasant communication daily.- God bless you and give you perseverance in this holy work
Dear Francisco, I am sorry that you have had problems receiving the word of the Lord on the page "God speaks today", but do not be discouraged, remember that God is always present and through His Word we can find the strength and encouragement we need. As Psalm 85:10 reminds us, "Mercy and truth have met, Justice and peace have kissed." Let's keep that balance in our relationship with God and in our daily life. May God bless you and strengthen you in your faith.
Carlos jose : It is very comforting to know that we have a merciful, just and true God, but it is also very worrying that our sinful nature abuses that unconditional Love that is always waiting for us to truly repent. If it were not for the Holy Spirit we would really be lost.
Dear Carlos, you are right to say that it is comforting to know that our God is merciful, just and true. However, it is also true that our sinful nature can take advantage of your unconditional love and forgiveness. But we must remember that God gives us his Holy Spirit to help us in our daily fight against sin and to guide us on our path to holiness. As the Apostle John reminds us in his Gospel, "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth." Let us be aware of our need for the grace and truth that come from God, in order to lead a full life and in harmony with His will. May God bless you and strengthen you in your journey of faith.
Enrique Meneses Muñoz : I have also had an inconvenience these last two days to receive this word that is my daily spiritual food. I thank you for receiving it again. GOD continue to bless us. A hug.
Dear Enrique, I am sorry that you have had trouble receiving the word of God during the last days, but I am glad that you have received it again. Remember that the Word of God is our daily spiritual food and is essential to our life in Christ. Let us ask the Lord to grant us the wisdom and strength to feed on His Word every day. As John 1:14 says, "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth." May God bless you and strengthen you in your journey of faith.
Ana Clarisa: The justice, mercy, and grace of God is within our reach. God wants a humble heart soon to repent of our mistakes and so we can achieve his grace and mercy. God also works justly. If our attitude does not change and we live in constant sin, his correction and hand of justice will come.
Dear Ana Clarisa, you are absolutely right to say that God's justice, mercy and grace are within our reach. As you say, God wants a humble heart, willing to repent of our mistakes, in order to achieve his grace and mercy. But what you mention about God's justice is also true. If our attitude does not change and we live in constant sin, his correction and hand of justice can come upon us. That is why it is important that we always maintain an attitude of repentance and humility before God, and that we fight every day to live in holiness and obedience to his will. As Psalm 85:10 says, "Mercy and truth have met, justice and peace have kissed." May God bless you and guide you on your journey of faith.
Ana Clarisa: Amen
Amen, may God bless you Ana Clarisa.
Gustavo Martinez Afanador : God shows us many qualities of the Lord mercy, holiness, thanks with the truth and must exist in the son of God and imitate him to resemble Jesus, for that we must be obedient to his word and do his will and move away from him sin. Blessings
Dear Gustavo, thank you for sharing your comment. I agree with you that God shows us many qualities, such as mercy, holiness and grace with the truth. And it is true that we must imitate Jesus to be more like Him. To do this, we need to be obedient to His Word and do His will, and turn away from sin. As the apostle John says in his gospel, "The Word became flesh and dwelt among us, full of grace and truth." May God grant us the wisdom and strength to follow Jesus and reflect His love and truth in our lives. Blessings for you too.
