confront yourself

(Audio: Spanish)

SUMMARY: In Matthew 17:24-27, Jesus and his disciples return to Capernaum and are confronted by the IRS about paying taxes. Jesus tells Peter to go fishing and catch a fish with a four-drachma coin in its mouth to pay their taxes. While the common interpretation is that Jesus provided for their needs, the Holy Spirit revealed to the speaker that this passage also reveals Peter's character flaw of fear of men, which eventually leads to his denial of Jesus. The speaker emphasizes that character flaws can undermine and neutralize even the most impressive gifts if neglected, and character development is a process of discipleship. However, thank God for the blood of Jesus and the Holy Spirit, which allow us to be of use to the Kingdom of God even imperfectly.

The speaker discusses the process of character formation as a Christian and the factors that can either speed up or stop this process. These factors include having a teachable heart, surrounding oneself with good company, participating in discipleship, seeing trials as opportunities for growth, and putting on the new man or woman. The speaker emphasizes that this process takes time and effort, but the end result is a new life with a new future. The speaker encourages listeners to try on the new clothes of righteousness and start walking in them, even if it feels uncomfortable at first.

The speaker talks about how they used to be a liar but now they want to be truthful and work diligently. They invite the musicians to join them and speak about grace and the close relationship with God that comes with discipleship. The speaker encourages the audience to share testimonials of how their lives have changed and make a pact to follow God wherever he leads them.

Let's open the word to the Gospel according to Matthew, Chapter 17 beginning with verse 24. The account that is found between verse 24 and 27. My brothers, while we look for this word, Matthew 17, verse 24 to 27, know this, if you don't listen to something else listen to this: firstly I have good news for you, if you are here, what is more, if you were born on this earth and even more so, if you were born again God has a purpose with you, God has a ministry that he has entrusted to you , that he wants you and only you to develop. That's good.

I also have a warning. Perhaps the worst adversary that you will face as you develop your ministry is your own character. Our worst adversary, the most determined adversary with whom we will fight the most on this earth is ourselves. But again we have good news for you. Thank God that we do not fight alone, thank you for the transforming power of the word of God, thank you for the hope of transformation.

He encourages building ones life and ministry on solid biblical principles and discerning what is of God.
