After this, Jesus knowing that all things were now accomplished, that the scripture might be fulfilled, saith, I thirst.(John 19:28)

The word tetelestai means it is finished and was used by Jesus on the cross to signify the completion of Gods plan of salvation. Jesus defeated death throughout His ministry, established a new mode of access to the Father through His sacrifice, and established His Church.
