When I was a young man, a slogan was heard in my country that, among many others, was part of one more link in the chain of cheers and personal exaltations for which we were either seen or frowned upon, depending on the levels of commitment. "Only windows are cracked, men die standing up!" I repeated it many times fired with a peculiar feeling. The years pass and with them the times of empty slogans. Today, wherever I want to go, I can see the Supermen of my youth, amazed, with frayed capes, desperate for a drink of kryptonite juice making a new attempt to take flight. But they can no longer fly. They broke into the path of life and fell into the trap of their own slogans. They are still standing, haughty and bent on greening laurels scrapped by frustration and bitterness, but they wander without direction, dead in their chronic folly.
I recently had an encounter with one of these Supermen. God led me to him in the way that only God can. After the necessary greetings and the necessary questions about friends who are no longer there, I wanted to give him a bouquet of hopes and Christ's poem on salvation, but he rejected both without much explanation. He extended his hand to give me a card with his personal information, he turned his back on me as one does to the enemy and I saw him leave with his hat full of pride and his cape of arrogance. Compassion is the only remedy that consoles you when the ear of the wicked is closed to the word of God by pride and self-love, thanks to the tricks that the enemy achieves in the heart of man who boasts of being able to live without his Creator.
A week later I received the following message that more or less read like this: "Faustino: Forgive me for the way I treated you. In that week three people spoke to me about the same topic, that is, about Christ and to be honest, I was already tired of hearing the same "cantaleta" and that's why I reacted like that. But I've thought that not only windows are cracked, but also men. Do you remember those times? Anyway, I'm desperate, my wife left me, but I didn't have the courage to tell you, because I feel empty, as if life has no meaning now. I think I need what you have, be it Jesus Christ or whatever… call me when you can… please. Carlos ".
The end of the story is already known to you. If anyone knows what pain is, that is Christ. But "when the shoe squeezes" and we give it a chance to enter the torn heart, He restores. Man cracks like the most fragile glass when he does not put his foot on the Rock. Does anyone doubt it? Finally my friend Superman and God hugged each other and now he's walking around like children with a new toy and a new love. He told me that God had already given him a plan to reconquer all that was lost and he talks to me about faith as if he had discovered it to offer it to humanity.
We all have a Superman friend, proud, successful, prosperous ... but empty inside. The world is full of these beings in need of compassion, but we focus more on their apparent prosperity than on the miseries of their hearts. If you tell them about Christ, you may get the surprise of your life. Perhaps they are waiting for someone to help them remove the superhero costume to show the true disfigured face that can only be restored when he finally listens! the voice of Christ.
