Currently there are 250 pastors scattered throughout all the prisons of the Buenos Aires Penitentiary System (SPB) in Argentina. They all answer to a single man, Pastor Juan Zuccarelli, from La Plata, the man who in 1983 became a prison guard because he wanted to preach in the Olmos pavilions and they did not allow him to enter. Today he preached at the León de Judá Congregation. Don't miss this testimonial.
In 1983, the Olmos prison did not record evangelical religious activity. Today, of its 3,200 inmates, 1,500 live in the so-called evangelical pavilions, more precisely on the third and fourth floors of the prison, which until the late 1980s were the "heavy" floors, but which are now under the control of the pastors. To put it in focus: 48 percent of the largest prison in Argentina declares itself an evangelist.
