The just shall live by faith

Charles Spurgeon
Charles Spurgeon

SUMMARY: The author believes in God and trusts in Him completely, even in the face of death. They recognize that living by faith is safer and happier than living by feelings or works. They cling to Jesus and receive everything from Him. Even the most righteous have to live this way, so the author, being a poor sinner, trusts in God entirely. They will stick to this to the end.

I am not to die. I must believe, and I do believe in the Lord my God, and this faith will keep me alive. I want to be counted among those who are just in their lives; but even if I were fully mature, I would not want to try to live by my righteousness: I would cling to the work of the Lord Jesus, and would still live by faith in Him and for nothing else. If I were able to deliver my body at the stake for my Lord Jesus, I would not trust my own courage and constancy, but would still live by faith.
