Summary: The story of the two women who made a pact to eat each other's children, and the impotence of the king to solve the situation, is a metaphor for the spiritual darkness and helplessness of our current society. Our cities and nations are plagued by crime, violence, poverty, and ignorance, and the leaders are powerless to solve the problems. The only hope for our world is the Church of Jesus Christ, which has the power of Christ, the Word of God, and the illumination of the Holy Spirit. We must bring the Gospel message and teach the nations how to turn back to Jesus Christ, so that God can heal our cities and countries and remove them from the grip of the devil.
Although our situation seems hopeless, God's children always have hope because we have our God on our side. And although the situation of the Church of Jesus Christ in the world at this time in history seems so extreme and almost desperate, where the world seems to be going more and more towards evil or towards secularism and the rejection of the Word of God We can still say that there is something that God wants to do in our time to change that situation. Children of God are never helpless.
In this passage I want to continue with the account of this story and talk about a scene that this text presents to us where we are told that the famine was so great, to illustrate what was happening in fact, that when the King of Israel Joram passed down a street a woman calls him and believing that she is going to obtain justice through the question she asks the King, she tells a macabre story where she tells the King that she and another woman had made a pact. This is found in verse 26 of Second Kings.
It says that: "As the King of Israel passed through the wall, a woman shouted to him: Hail King, my lord and he said to him: If the Lord does not save you, where can I save you? From the barn or the winepress? And he said to him The King: What have you got? This woman told me: give your son here and let's eat it today and tomorrow we will eat mine. So we cooked my son and ate it. The next day I told her: Give your son here and let's eat it, but She has hidden her son. And when the King heard the words of that woman, he tore her clothes and passed through the wall and the people saw the silicon that she carried inside on her body. "
So we see here brothers this terrible story where these two women make a truly horrifying pact and agree between them to eat each other's child but the second woman violates her promise and does not give her child to eat to the other and that is why she feels treated unfairly and appeals to the king so that supposedly the king does justice to her and the king is scandalized by this situation described by this first woman and realizes how terrible the situation they are living at this time.
And do you know what strikes me the most about that passage? It is this idea of these two women in a town like Israel making a pact that is almost diabolical and that reveals the total spiritual ignorance, the spiritual darkness in which these two citizens of Israel live. Then we also see here the impotence of the king himself to resolve the situation, when this woman calls him and says: Save King of Israel, the king tells him: But what do I have to give you if I am in a situation as difficult as yours ? I have no food to give you so what am I going to save you from?
So what I see here is like a situation of such helplessness where the citizens on the one hand are completely ignorant of things moral, spiritual, ethical, religious and the king who is supposed to know much more about things of the spirit and who can offering a solution is as powerless as the citizens to resolve the difficult situation in which their citizens find themselves.
So we see this situation here. What the Spirit tells me is that this situation is very similar to the situation in which we are living in current times where the cities of the world are attacked by crime, violence, we know that in Latin America right now there are entire countries that are possessed for drugs, for drug trafficking, for gangs and there is terrible violence in our countries, there is incredible injustice, there is poverty, there is hunger, there is ignorance and the leaders of the nations, the rulers are totally powerless to solve the problems of our cities, our countries.
And not only that but there are an immense amount of individuals in our societies who are totally devoid of any spiritual teaching, ignorant in the extreme of the things of God; neglected by the powerful, people who live totally on the fringes of society without any sense of integration into the life of their countries and their societies and that I believe is one of the things that encourages so much crime, so much violence, so much cruelty in certain young people and certain members of our society because they do not feel that they belong to society, they do not feel cared for or cared for or taken into account by the rulers who simply get richer and exploit and corrupt and take money from the poor .
And so we see that both the powerful and the weak are in a totally hopeless situation like these two women who go to the point of eating their own children and believe that they are doing nothing wrong by doing so. That is the state in which many of our nations find themselves.
That is why it is so important that the Church of Jesus Christ find a way to announce the Word of God to our cities, to our towns, to our nations because it is the only hope for a world that is totally corrupt, totally lost.
It reminds me of the words of God to the prophet Jonah when he spoke to him about Nínibe and he spoke that in that city there were hundreds of thousands of citizens and that those citizens did not know how to recognize his right hand from his left hand, they were in complete ignorance and God has mercy, God has compassion on our cities. God wants to do something, he wants to solve the problems of our cities and an enlightened Church is required, a Church that has the power of Christ, that has the Word of wisdom, that has the illumination and the revelation of the Holy Spirit.
I believe that in this time of history God wants to turn the course of history and take these people totally immersed in ignorance, in darkness, speak to the leaders of the nations and tell them that Christ is the solution to their urban crises. and that in Him there is hope, in Him there is a solution.
The solution right now is not in the politicians, the solution is not in the rulers, the solution is not in the rich people of resources, the solution is the Church of Jesus Christ through the Word of God and the power of the Holy Spirit. .
And we have to be announcing the Gospel message, we have to be bringing that Word of hope and wisdom teaching the nations how God wants them to live and how God wants them to turn back to Jesus Christ so that then God can heal our cities and our countries and remove them from the iron grip in which the power of the devil and hell has them.
The Church has the solution to the problems of our nations, it is not the government and we have to live and move with the assurance that God has given us that Word of liberation for our societies. May the Lord bless you and until our next study, I say goodbye to you in the Name of our Lord Jesus Christ.
