Testimony October 25, 2009: Reunited with my wife

SUMMARY: Rick shares his testimony about how he came to Team Challenge broken and hopeless. He learned about God and surrendered to His will, eventually becoming involved in ministry work. He shares a story about a Pastor who prophesied about his wife's softened heart, and even though he received divorce papers, he held onto God's promise. Eventually, his wife's heart softened and they were able to reconcile. Rick encourages others to offer their bodies as living sacrifices to God and to be transformed by the renewing of their minds. He quotes Romans 12:1-2.

Rick: Good afternoon everyone. My name is Rick and I’m from Boston Team Challenge Intérprete: Buenas tardes. Mi nombre es Rick y estoy aquí de Boston Team Challenge Rick: I’ve been in Team Challenge for three years Intérprete: He estado por 3 años en Team Challenge Rick: I came in broken and chained to bones. I mean just completely crashed Intérprete: Vine quebrantado y en cadenas, destruido Rick: I came into Team Challenge thinking that I would solve my problems and could quit in about 30 days but like any recovery place I went to but that wasn’t what God in mind. He had a whole different plan Intérprete: Yo vine a Team Challenge pensando que en 30 días iba a tratar the arreglar mis problemas pero no fue así, Dios tenía otro plan para mi vida Rick: As the fog started to clear from my mind Intérprete: Cuando se quitó la neblina de mi mente Rick: and the world of God enter my heart and my soul Intérprete: Cuando la palabra de Dios comenzó a alimentar my corazón y mi mente Rick: I started to see what Jesus had in mind for me Intérprete: Comencé a ver lo que Jesús tenía en mente para mí Rick: My life was his Intérprete: Que mi vida era de Él Rick: Not mine. Intérprete: No mía Rick: As I surrendered to the will of God Intérprete: Cuando yo me rendí a la voluntad de Dios Rick: I started to do ministries like this but out of the State Intérprete: Comencé a hacer ministerios como este pero fuera del estado Rick: We had a DAT team, I don’t know if you have seen us on store fronts with a table we read literature Intérprete: No se si nos han visto a veces en asientos de comercios con mesas Rick: We went to Virginia in a two weeks’ lift Intérprete: Fuimos a Virginia en una dos semanas Rick: The Pastor that spoke on a Sunday, he wasn’t supposed to be there because the Pastor of the church took ill Intérprete: El Pastor que estaba there no debería estar allí pero el que iba a estar allí se enfermó Rick: He started to prophecy on one side of the church and the church is crowded –600 people Intérprete: Le cruzó profetizar de un lado, de un ángulo de la iglesia y estaba llena como 600 personas Rick: I was still a new student about 5 months into the program Intérprete: Yo era un nuevo estudiante como 5 meses en el programa Rick: And the Pastor from Africa started to come towards me Intérprete: El Pastor de África comenzó a caminar hacia mí Rick: and I said, “Please Lord don’t it let to be me” Intérprete: Y yo dije “Por favor, Señor, que no sea yo” Rick: He came right two feet in front of my face, pointed at my chase and said: “Wait upon the Lord that he will soften your wife’s heart” Intérprete: Vino delante de mi y me dijo: “Espera en Jehová, el Señor va a ablandar el corazón de tu esposa” Rick: And I stayed in agreement because I knew the trouble I caused at home Intérprete: Y yo me quedé en acuerdo porque yo sabía el problema que había causado en casa Rick: My brothers around me knew through my testimony they knew what happened Intérprete: Y mis hermanos sabían el problema que yo había causado en casa Rick: But I couldn’t understand how the Pastor knew Intérprete: Pero no entendía como aquel Pastor sabía Rick: But I knew right that moment that God spoke through the Pastor to me because those words got to my heart… Intérprete: Yo sabía que el Señor estaba usando aquel profeta aquel Pastor porque sus palabras llegaron a mi corazón como un fulmino Rick: So for 20 months I wrote letters home to my wife and my daughters Intérprete: Por 20 meses escribí cartas a mi esposa y a mis hijas Rick: Telling them how great Jesus has treated me and how I’m changing and I’m a better man Intérprete: Y diciéndoles que tan cosas grandes Jesús ha hecho en mi vida y como soy un mejor hombre Rick: No reply at all from my family Intérprete: Pero no había ninguna respuesta de mi familia Rick: After 20 months of being in the program I got divorce papers Intérprete: Después de 20 meses de estar en el programa me llegaron papeles de divorcio Rick: I was devastated. I looked up and I said: ‘Lord, you said you’d soften my wife’s heart Intérprete: Y yo estaba destruido y yo le dije: “Señor, Tú dijiste que ibas a ablandar el corazón de mi esposa” Rick: But because of the Team Challenge I learnt about God and I learnt God never falls through on his word. He always stays on Intérprete: Pero aprendí que a través de Team Challenge Dios siempre cumple su palabra Rick: So for the next 30 days I still believed that God was gonna do what he said he would do Intérprete: Y por los siguientes 30 días seguí creyendo que Dios iba a hacer lo que Él me profetizó, lo que me dijo Rick: As I went to the Court Room my wife was there Intérprete: Cuando llegué a la Corte y miré a mi esposa, estaba allí, ella Rick: I said ‘Lord, I can’t.
