We have to do our part if we want to receive something from the Lord

SUMMARY: This passage from Mark 5:25-34 tells the story of a woman who takes a superhuman effort and risks to seek the blessing of Jesus Christ. In the culture of her time, she was considered impure and not supposed to be in a crowd contaminating those around her. However, she breaks with the protocols of her time and throws herself in the middle of the crowd to touch the hem of Jesus' robe, knowing she had to do her part in receiving the blessing. This woman's story teaches us that God does not do everything, and there is a part that we too will have to do to receive the blessing. When the effort of the man pregnant with faith meets the blessing of God, that combination makes an atomic bomb that brings the blessing we are looking for. May God wish that each of us can do our part even if we do not feel the desire to do so, knowing that this is what He needs many times to bless us.

This woman is called to a superhuman effort, to take very serious risks when she sets out to seek the blessing of the Lord Jesus Christ. Think that in the culture of her time and in the Hebrew Pharisee religion of her time this woman was considered impure, she was like the menstruating woman who in the Old Testament was considered impure for a time. She was effectively in the same situation and therefore she was not supposed to be in a crowd contaminating those around her effectively.

However, this woman, due to her need, decides to break with the protocols of her time, throw herself in the middle of the crowd, make her way. Can you imagine this crowd closed around Jesus? He says they were squeezing Him. There was a pressing need on the part of that crowd. Christ had power, He had words of life, people were in need, and He had the answer to their needs.
