Our final day
Alberto González MuñozSome teachings of the Bible that have often been ridiculed or misinterpreted are those that have to do with the end of the world. It is likely that the insistent and sometimes exaggerated way in which some believers refer to the end times and the excessive emphasis on apocalyptic prophecies has helped to create some rejection of such biblical truths.
Does the Word of God teach that one day everything will end? Many biblical portions present different facets of the end times. Probably the mistake of many is to insist on details and dates and not on the big picture that can only be glimpsed if a general and deep knowledge of the Scriptures is achieved. However, there is a passage that somehow sums it up and also presents a way of living to prepare for these events: “But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in which the heavens will pass away with a great noise, and the elements burning will be waste, and the earth and the works that are in it will be burned up ”(2 Peter 3:10). We do not need to go into detail or do an explanatory study of what these events will be like. There have always been different opinions. The truth is that, although we do not know when, the Bible clearly teaches that one day everything will come to an end.
