Faith always sees the bow of covenant promise
Charles SpurgeonRight now the clouds are very thick, but we are not afraid that the world will be destroyed by a flood. We see the rainbow often enough not to be so afraid. The covenant the Lord made with Noah stands firm, and we have no doubts about it. Why, then, should we think that the tribulation clouds, now obscuring our sky, will end up destroying us? We have to cast off those baseless and dishonorable fears.
Faith always sees the bow of covenant promise, whenever sense sees the cloud of affliction. God has a bow with which He can shoot His arrows of destruction; But see, it's turned upside down. It is a bow without arrows and without rope; It is a bow that is hung as a demonstration, but that is no longer used for warfare. It is a bow of many colors that express joy and delight, and not a bow bloodied by slaughter, or blackened by anger. Let's have a lot of courage. God never darkens our sky so as to leave His covenant without a witness; And even if He did, we would trust Him, since He cannot change, lie, or fail to fulfill His covenant of peace in any other way. Until the waters cover the earth again, we will have no reason to doubt our God.
