Tell the Lord all about your pain, and abandon it all to Him

Charles Spurgeon
Charles Spurgeon

SUMMARY: If you have a burden that is too heavy to bear, give it to God. He will sustain you and turn your burden into a blessing. Trust in Him and He will not allow your affliction to move you from your position of righteousness. Tell God about your pain and leave it with Him. Walk in freedom and joy knowing that God is carrying your burden for you.

As it is a heavy burden, throw it on Omnipotence. Now it is your burden, and it crushes you; but when the Lord takes it, it will become nothing. If you are still called to sustain it, "he will sustain you." It will be on you, and it won't be on you. You will be held in such a way that the burden will be a blessing. Ask the Lord to intervene and you will be very upright under that weight that in itself would bend you.

Our main fear is that our trial will divert us from the path of duty; but the Lord will never tolerate that. If we are righteous before Him, He will not allow our affliction to move us from our position. In Jesus, He accepts us as righteous, and in Jesus, He will keep us so.

And what about the present moment? Are you facing alone the test of this day? Are your poor shoulders to be injured by the oppressive burden? Don't be so foolish. Tell the Lord all about your pain, and abandon it all to Him. Do not throw your burden on the ground, to reload it; cast it on the Lord, and leave it there. Then you will walk in freedom like a joyous believer who has been freed from the burden, and you will sing the praises of your great Charger.
