Fan the fire of God's gift

Samuel Acevedo
(Audio: Spanish)

SUMMARY: The speaker invites the audience to open their Bibles to 2 Timothy 1 and reads verses 6-7. He recalls a conversation he had with a brother who asked him how to ask the Lord for a gift. The speaker explains that God has already given us gifts and that we need to develop them. He emphasizes the importance of fanning the flames of the gift of God that is in us. The speaker suggests that daily seeking God, forgiving and practicing a lifestyle of forgiveness, and being sensitive to the Holy Spirit are the basic steps to revive the gift of God. He encourages the audience to not underestimate the value of daily time with the Lord, and to keep the embers burning. The speaker also notes that forgiveness is important to remove any roots of bitterness that may obstruct the channel and contaminate our gifts.

Forgiveness is an essential part of exercising our gifts as Christians. By forgiving others, we learn divine principles that are beyond our natural abilities, and we experience the same grace and mercy that God shows us. It's important to start small and gradually increase our ability to forgive, which can lead to surprising blessings and open doors in our lives. Having a community of imperfect people to share our journey with is also crucial for our spiritual growth and for our gifts to have a context. We should submit to the authorities that God has placed in our lives and trust that He will use our gifts for His Kingdom purposes.

I invite you to open your Bibles to 2 Timothy, chapter 1. In the Bible study tonight; 2 Timothy, chapter 1, perhaps a text that we already know. Praise the Lord. How good it is to know that we have been in the presence of the Lord! We serve a God who attends to our cries, loves us...

Let's read verse 6 and verse 7. Amen. In the name of the Father, of the Son, of the Holy Spirit. With which I advise you to fan the fire of the gift of God that is in you. We go back to verse 6. 2 Timothy, chapter 1, verse 6. “Therefore I advise you to fan into fire the gift of God that is in you. By the laying on of my hands, because God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power, love, and self-control."
