Seize the hopeful opportunity when it comes
Charles SpurgeonThere are signs of the Lord's movements that should move us. The Spirit of God blows where it wants, and we hear its sound. Then it was time for us to be more active than ever. We must seize that golden opportunity, and make the most of it. It is our responsibility to fight with the Philistines at all times; but when the Lord himself comes out before us, then we must be especially brave in war.
The breeze shook the treetops, and David and his men took this as the signal for an onslaught, and in their advance the Lord, Himself, struck down the Philistines. Oh, that on this day the Lord will open a door for us to talk about Him with many of our friends! We must be vigilant to seize the hopeful opportunity when it comes. Who knows if this could be a good news day; a time to win souls. We must keep our ears open to hear the whisper of the wind, and our minds ready to obey the signal. Isn't this promise, "because the Lord will go out before you," an encouragement enough for us to act boldly? Since the Lord goes out ahead of us, we dare not back down.
