Am I asking what Jesus approves of?

Charles Spurgeon
Charles Spurgeon

SUMMARY: The promise of "something" from God is vast and covers all our needs. We should always ask in the name of Jesus, which is a powerful argument before God. We must only use His name for prayers that Jesus himself would say. If we ask in accordance with His will, we will receive what we ask for. This comes from The Bank of Faith Checkbook by Charles Spurgeon.

What a vast promise! Something! Big or small, all my needs are covered by that word "something". Come, my soul, freely before the mercy seat, and hear your Lord when he says to you: "Open your mouth, and I will fill it."

What a wise promise! We must always ask in the name of Jesus. While this encourages us, it also honors Him. This is a constant argument. Occasionally any other argument is obscured, especially those that we might draw from our own relationship with God, or our experience of His grace; But in moments like this, the name of Jesus is as powerful on the throne as ever, and we can argue it with full confidence.
