Philip - bridge builder

SUMMARY: Bob Baker spoke at León de Judá Congregation about the importance of building bridges between different cultures and nationalities in the name of Jesus. He used the example of the early church in Acts, Chapter 6, where there were tensions between Greek-speaking Jews and Hebrew-speaking Jews. The apostles handled the situation in a godly manner by selecting seven men, including Philip, to manage the food supply program. Philip was a peacemaker and a servant leader, willing to wait on tables to solve the problem. Baker emphasized the importance of being Spirit-filled and using one's abilities for God's work, rather than relying solely on worldly wisdom. He encouraged the congregation to make every effort to maintain unity through the bond of peace.

The word deacon in Greek means someone who waits on tables. Serving others in the name of Jesus can lead to great miracles, as seen in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina when Christian churches and agencies came together to provide aid. Philip, a leading servant and evangelist in the early church, embodied the great commission and brought people to Jesus. God can use times of trouble to accomplish important things in the church. The Holy Spirit still works today to bring people together at the right time and place.

The Lion of Judah Congregation in Boston received a donation of 40,000 pounds of frozen chicken, which they distributed to those in need. They were able to store the chicken in a 53-foot freezer trailer provided by God. The congregation is focused on carrying out the great commission of Jesus, which includes being servant leaders, peacemakers, and evangelizers. They thank the Lord for his provision and pray for the power of the Holy Spirit to continue their mission.

I asked Bob Baker to be with us this morning and bring us the word of the Lord since he is a member of the English ministry and there is one more microphone that I don't know where it will be, maybe I have it right here in front of me. I will be translating for Bob. Again, they have been pastors, Bob and Susy, his wife, have been pastors on Cape Cod at a church called South Chattam Community Church for several years. They are in transition now, God has brought them into our midst to share and it has been a blessing to meet them, people of character.

Welcome, a pleasure to have you with us. It's an honor, this microphone is still hot. The first song I learned when I was in Chicago was Fire, Fire, the church wants fire. And we sang that song like 50 times every time we sang it. And this little white guy from Massachusetts came out of that church singing Fire, Fire.
