Judges 10:10 • Matthew 3:2
We charted our own course, in restless pride we strayed From living waters, to the wells that we had made. Just broken cisterns, hollow, cracked and dry, Chasing fleeting comfort, beneath an empty sky. Oh, the bitter harvest, the burden that we bore, Lost in a wilderness, knocking on sin's door.
Then we cried out, Lord, we have sinned against You, Forsaken Your love for what wasn't true. Oh, let this not be just a wail for relief, But a turning, a yearning, a godly, deep grief. Repent, for the Kingdom, it draws ever near, Wash away all the falsehood, banish all fear.
Was our sorrow only for the pain we had to face? A desperate plea for mercy, to escape sin's bitter taste? Or a true brokenness, a heart laid bare before, The holy God we'd wounded, the One we now adore? Then John's voice boomed a summons, from wilderness he came, "Repent, for the Kingdom of Heaven is at hand!" he claimed.
No shallow truce, no patching up the cracks, But a radical reorienting, there is no turning back. From self-rule and idols, to Christ upon the throne, The Living Fountain calling, where true life is known. He breaks every cycle, redeems every fall, Our Deliverer, King Jesus, answering our call.
So we cry out, Lord, we have sinned against You, Embracing Your love, for what's ever true. This is not just a wail for a moment's relief, But a turning, a yearning, a godly, deep grief. Repent, for the Kingdom, it stands ever near, Wash away all the falsehood, banish all fear.
To the Living Fountain, we run, we run free, From broken cisterns, to eternity. Justified, made whole, by Your unfailing grace, In Your Kingdom, King Jesus, we find our true place. Amen.
