Psalms 73:21-22 • Ephesians 4:31
I looked around at the easy life They had the gold, I had the knife Twisting inside, cutting me deep Robbing my joy, stealing my sleep. My heart was sour, fermenting within A piercing grief, a secret sin. I lost my way, I lost the feast I stood before You like a brute beast.
I was senseless (Senseless!) I was blind (So blind!) Leaving the hope of my soul behind. But I couldn't see the end of the story...
Until I entered the Sanctuary Until I walked through the open door! I laid down the rage, I laid down the fury I ain't gonna carry that weight no more. Oh, the bitterness dies where the mercy is stood And the nearness of God... Yeah, the nearness of God is my good.
Why drink the poison and wait for them to die? Why shout the slander? Why scream the lie? It grieves the Spirit, it breaks the bond You gotta look up, you gotta look beyond. Take off the malice like a dirty shirt Trade in the anger, trade in the hurt. Be kind and tender, forgive the debt Or you ain't seen nothing but darkness yet.
I’m gonna count the works (Count ‘em up now) I’m gonna count the grace (All of His grace) I’m gonna count the love (Look at His face) I’m gonna count the peace (In every place) I’m shifting my eyes! I’m shifting my gaze! From the envy of men To the Ancient of Days!
I entered the Sanctuary Until I walked through the open door! I laid down the rage, I laid down the fury I ain't gonna carry that weight no more. Oh, the bitterness dies where the mercy is stood And the nearness of God... Yeah, the nearness of God is my good.
It’s my good (So good to me). No more sour... only sweet. I’m sitting at the Savior’s feet. The nearness of God is my good.
