SUMMARY: The sermon focuses on the idea of mixed motives and conflicting intentions when approaching God. The story of the centurion in Luke 7 is used as an example of how our intentions can sometimes collide with God's intentions for our lives. The Pharisees, who had previously criticized Jesus, were sent by the centurion to ask Jesus to heal his servant. However, the centurion later sends a message saying he is not worthy for Jesus to come under his roof, but asks for Jesus to heal his servant with just a word. The sermon encourages us to approach God with genuine intentions to grow in our relationship with Him, and not just for personal gain. The verse in Hebrews 4:12 is mentioned, explaining that the word of God discerns the intentions of the heart. The sermon concludes by emphasizing that it is important to align our lives with God's intentions.

The story of the paralytic who was healed in Luke 5 shows that Jesus saw the first need of the boy was a restoration on the inside. Similarly, God wants a direct connection with us, not just to fulfill our secondary desires. We should seek first the kingdom of God and His justice, and all other things will be added to us. We should have clear intentions when we approach God and not have mixed motives. We should align our intentions with God's desires for our lives.

Today while I was preparing myself, I came across this topic, I don't know how many times I have said it, maybe I have said it many times but, one of the meditations or devotionals that I usually read is called The Upper Room. And two weeks ago I came across one of the meditations that was very interesting because it made me reflect a lot, and that reflection came to me, and I would like to share part of those things that I read in that devotional with you and add others that I myself I have been thinking and reflecting.

But I titled this sermon "mixed motives", or "mixed intentions" if you will. Reasons found. And I would like you to go with me to the book of Luke chapter 7. Luke chapter 7, I am sure that this is a story that many of you are very familiar with, we have read it a lot, we have seen the faith that is manifested in this story, but today I would like to teach you something different.
